The Society of American Florists (SAF) is one the oldest floral organizations in the country, representing all segments of the industry—from retailers and growers to wholesalers, importers, and suppliers. Founded in Chicago in 1884, the organization soon formed the Florists’ Hail Association of America to protect greenhouse owners against hail damage. That association eventually became Florists’ Mutual Insurance Company. Today, you know it as Hortica, a brand of the Sentry Insurance Group. That’s right, we’ve been associated with SAF for 130 years!
SAF prides itself on offering networking opportunities and meetings, as well as educational programs to discuss the latest trends with customers and suppliers. Special events are scheduled each year, including Congressional Action Days in Washington, D.C., and an annual convention. One of the most successful is their 1-Day Profit Blast—which Hortica has sponsored for years.
Four Profit Blast events are scheduled for 2018. The first was held in Omaha, Nebraska, this past January. The three others happening throughout the year across the U.S. are:
- Detroit—May 20
- Green Bay—July 15
- Portland—October 7
This is the fifth year for the 1-Day Profit Blast. During each eight-hour program, speakers cover topics like profitable design, customer service, technology trends, and marketing strategies. There’s also a supplier showcase.
We here at Hortica are pleased to once again sponsor networking breaks and lunch at each of the Blast events this year.
If you’re interested in attending the next Profit Blast in Detroit on May 20, check out the SAF website for more registration information. You can also find details about the sessions. Both SAF members and non-members can register to attend.
And when you arrive at your 1-Day Profit Blast session, be sure to look for our Hortica representatives. We can’t wait to have a conversation with you!
