John A. Baisch

John Baisch became a member of the Hortica Board of Directors in 2006 and serves on the Marketing Committee.

For the last 20 years, John Baisch has been the President of Baisch & Skinner Wholesale Florists, a leading wholesale floral supplier headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. The company was founded by his father, Arthur Baisch, and his business partner, Roy Skinner, in 1952 and it has been a successful family business ever since. A graduate of University of Missouri, Columbia, MO, John joined Baisch & Skinner 34 years ago. Since then it has grown to include several locations throughout Missouri, Illinois, Kansas and Arizona.

He is active in the Society of American Florists, and Wholesale Florists and Floral Suppliers of America.

John and his wife, Judy, live in Edwardsville, IL. They enjoy traveling to visit their 4 children and 5 grandchildren.

James Phillip Jr.

James Phillip Jr. joined Hortica’s Board of Directors in 2017.

James Phillip Jr. serves as the chairman and CEO of Phillip’s Flowers, a leading retail florist chain based in Chicago. Phillip’s Flowers was founded in 1923 by James A. and Helen Phillip, with Jim serving as the eldest third-generation family member. Jim graduated with a B.S. in industrial engineering from Stanford University, with a master’s degree in management from the Kellogg School of Northwestern University.

Jim’s industry experience includes a term on the American Floral Marketing Council, and terms with the Society of American Florists on the Business & Economic Trends and Member Services Committees, Retailers Council, and Board of Directors. Jim also served on the Board of Trustees of the American Floral Endowment, including serving as the treasurer on its Executive Committee. His professional accreditation includes the American Academy of Floriculture (AAF) designation.

Mona B. Haberer

Mona B. Haberer is CEO of Hortica Insurance & Employee Benefits. She joined Hortica in 1989 and has served in various financial positions such as Controller and Chief Financial Officer, before being appointed President and CEO in 2008. She had previous experience in the financial industry, working at a CPA firm, a bank, and an insurance company before joining Hortica. She holds a B.S. in Accountancy from Eastern Illinois University. Mona is a registered CPA and holds the industry designations of CPCU, ARe and FMLI.

Mona serves on the Lewis & Clark Foundation Board and the First Cloverleaf Bank Board of Directors. She is also a member of the Advisory Board of Age Smart and an Investment Committee Member of Horticulture Research Institute (HRI).

Mona and her husband, Brad, live in Edwardsville, Illinois. They have two children.

Pete McPartland joined Sentry Insurance as President and Chief Operating Officer in 2010. He became Chief Executive Officer in 2012 and Chairman of the Board in 2013. Prior to joining Sentry, McPartland served as President and CEO of Golden Eagle Insurance, a subsidiary of Liberty Mutual Group. With more than 30 years in the insurance industry, McPartland previously held executive positions with Aetna, Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company and General Casualty Company. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Florida.
